The basics of affiliate marketing
What is an advertiser?
An advertiser (merchant) is usually a provider of products or services. They supply the advertising materials that publishers use and integrate into their advertising platforms.
What is a publisher?
Publishers (affiliates) are partners with advertising platforms (such as websites, newsletters, etc.) who display the advertising materials provided by advertisers through affiliate programs on their platforms.
What is affiliate marketing or an affiliate program?
An advertiser provides various advertising materials for their products and services. Their advertising partner (publisher) integrates these materials, such as text links or banners, into their website or email campaigns, thereby expanding their offering. In return for displaying the ads, the publisher receives a commission from the advertiser when the desired action is successfully completed. The compensation can be based on clicks (Pay-per-Click), views (Pay-per-View), registrations by the consumer, such as for a newsletter (Pay-per-Lead), or a percentage of the sale value (Pay-per-Sale).

What is an advertising platform?
